Originally appearing in Season 6, raptors have returned to the island in Season 8, which is very fitting as see The Sideways, an alternative dimension, slowly encroaching upon our reality. Like wolves, you can still tame one of the coolest dinosaurs to have existed to fight alongside you in Fortnite. (Who am I kidding? All dinosaurs are cool!) Be careful though - raptors are dangerous creatures and, if you’re not prepared when you find a raptor, it will try to kill you. Note this particular challenge is no longer able to be completed. What’s new? Chapter 3 Season 3 has arrived! New additions include Reality Seeds and Saplings and riding animals, along with the new Battle Pass, characters collection and map changes. It’s a good idea to know how to get XP fast in Fortnite.
On this page: These dinosaurs can be found roaming around the island either by themselves or in small packs of two or three. Be careful when approaching a raptor, however, as they can easily kill in three hits and their fast running speed makes escape difficult. Thankfully, like boars and wolves, you can tame raptors if you have the right equipment. Raptors seem to prefer the more mountainous areas of the Fortnite map. We found, for example, one sole raptor in the hills directly west of Lazy Lake and a pack of raptors patrolling the feet of the mountains north of Retail Row. Make sure you listen closely to the sounds around you when searching for a raptor. If one is close by you’ll be able to hear a chirping, clicking, sound which will indicate that at least one raptor is nearby. It’s like a softer version of the sounds the raptors make in the original Jurassic Park film. Fortnite Chapter 4 Chapter 1 is here, complete with a new augments system, the coming arrival of Geralt and the Ageless Champion to beat! We’ve also got a present list for Winterfest and Cozy Lodge and pizza slice locations. Meanwhile, learn how to get XP fast, earn the Victory Umbrella, find character locations and earn a Victory Crown.
Once you’re wearing that cloak, you’ll be able to tame any Raptor you encounter by simply walking up to them and taming them once prompted. Just remember - if you’re not wearing the Hunter’s Cloak, then the raptors will be less than friendly.
After taming a raptor, it will follow you about the map and will attack anyone you engage in combat. Compared to wolves or boars, raptors are faster runners, which makes them the ideal companion for traversing the island. It may take a moment for them to follow you, but they will do so quickly and can swim across bodies of water as well. Raptors will also destroy any walls which happen to get in their way and hunt down any nearby chickens, eating their remains, which is quite entertaining to watch.
