Rather than running about the map and shooting anyone you come into contact with, finding a bounty will name a specific player for you to hunt down and eliminate.
If you can complete a bounty in time, you’ll be rewarded with some gold bars.
Be careful though - there’s always a chance that you will become the next bounty target!
On this page:
Bounty boards can typically be found in named locations, usually inside buildings, and are marked on the map.
Once you’ve found a bounty board, interact with it to have another player randomly assigned to you as a bounty. You’ll now have six minutes to hunt them down and kill them if you want to receive the bounty.
Keep in mind that this player will know you’re hunting them and they may decide that their the hunter instead.
You can check how much time you have left and the name of your bounty target at any point by looking at the top left-hand corner of your screen.
To help you locate your target a yellow circle will appear on both your mini-map and the main Fortnite map. Your target will be located somewhere within that circle and it will move when they move, so you know if they’re on the move.
Finding the exact location of your target, however, is up to you, as is the process of eliminating them when you do find them.
If you manage to defeat your target, then you’ll be rewarded with a number of gold bars.
Try to avoid wasting time when hunting your target down though, as any bounty hunter target can be poached by other players.

If you’re a bounty target, you’ll be given six minutes to either evade your hunter or set a trap, so you can murder them instead.
You’ll also be given a Threat Monitor, which will sit in the top left-hand corner of your screen directly beneath the countdown for your bounty.
This Threat Monitor will give you a vague idea of how close your hunter is to your location; one bar and you’re pretty safe, two bars and you need to move, three red bars and you’re in danger.
If you manage to kill or avoid your hunter for the whole six minutes of your bounty, then you will no longer be a bounty target.
It is possible to take on a bounty even when you’re a bounty target yourself.
